January 27: The Regional Military Museum at Houma in Louisiana, USA is set to get its own ‘Air Force One’ exhibit.
An Aero Commander U-4B, as used by President Dwight D. Eisenhower from 1956 to 1960, is to be given to the museum by the Wedell-Williams Aviation Collection from the Louisiana State Museum in Patterson. U-4B 55-4648 is one of two used by Eisenhower for short trips within the continental USA and is the smallest aircraft to carry the ‘Air Force One’ tag, as well as the first to carry the established blue-and-white paint scheme. The other U-4B is in the Presidential Collection of the US Air Force Museum at Dayton in Ohio.
